#046 – Looking to the Skies with Vedic Astrologer Gary O’Toole

By 23/01/2020June 10th, 2020No Comments

This week I’m joined by Gary O’Toole from Timeline Astrology.

Gary had a keen interest in astrology (more like an obsession!) from an early age and continues to study and perfect his skills in Jyotish (‘Vedic’ or Indian astrology). He loves that this wonderful art and science continues to offer its gems the more he explores. He has studied with various Vedic astrology teachers for the past 20 years, including Pearl Finn and Komilla Sutton. Visti Larsen and Freedom Cole have been helpful guides, as has their teacher Sanjay Rath.

Gary trained in counselling and studied Ayurveda with the American Institute of Vedic Studies and at the International Academy of Ayurveda. He is a member of the British Association of Vedic Astrology and lectures at their annual conference. He has authored a book titled Cosmic Bodies: The Ayurvedic Astrology Guide to Health & Well-Being, available on Amazon and he is currently working on a book about timing techniques titled Timeline Astrology.

Gary likes to study a birth chart for at least a week before he reads which means a waiting period of some weeks depending on his schedule. If you require more immediate guidance, he can sometimes adjust suit. He offers practical consultations and remedies that are easily incorporated into a busy life. Although he follows the traditional approach of an ancient practice that is steeped in mystery and esoteric knowledge, he offers easy-to-follow readings clients enjoy. Gary blends the predictive techniques of Vedic astrology – using the traditional tools of Indian sages Parāśara and Jaimini – with holistic and practical advice for modern life, so you can make the most of any period in your life.

Gary has a scientific understanding of astrology and a keen intuition and insight into the challenges of life (typical Scorpio!). He prides myself in giving a comprehensive reading to every client, leaving no room for doubt or even a follow-up consultation many times. Usually, a client is happy with just one reading and uses the audio recording for many years afterwards; unless they wish to work with him in a more practical way, either month-by-month by becoming a patron of his website and following the trends, or year-on-year with a yearly reading and update on upcoming trends.

While timelines offer a graphical representation of dates in your life on which important periods are highlighted, a reading helps you effectively plan your life, and thrive – even in challenging circumstances. He literally gives you a timeline of your life to take away with you, along with an audio recording of the reading.

Gary’s readings offer peace and acceptance, while helping you move confidently forward in your life, changing what you can with the help of practical advice and astrological remedy. Here are a few words some recent clients have used to describe him: ‘insightful’, ‘detailed’, ‘sensible’, ‘reliable’, ‘restorative’, ‘knowledgeable’, ‘generous’, ‘accessible’, ‘informative’, ‘deeply embodied’, ‘creative’, ‘profoundly practical’, ‘patient’, ‘non-judgmental’, ‘clarifying’ and ‘helpful’.

Gary began Timeline Astrology in 2012 as the word ‘timeline’ had just entered the popular vocabulary. Ancient cultures, including those of the Vedic era, used the stars’ guidance for timing rituals and daily activities, so ‘timeline’ is a fitting description. Also, Vedic astrology has intricate predictive techniques based on sign and planetary cycles alongside transits that are his preferred techniques. These ‘timelines’ are the most helpful and practical for clients who do not wish to study astrology but wish to navigate their life more skilfully.

Gary writes articles that address complex Vedic astrological calculations, in an easy-to-follow format, often omitting calculations for a general audience and for ease of reading. He has been published in The Mountain Astrologer magazine and he writes a monthly article for Joni Patry’s Astrologic magazine. Gary writes in an accessible manner for Western sensibilities, as he is a Westerner learning an Eastern science and art. He strongly believes in the power of astrology to reach our full potential and writes articles and forecasts with helpful perspectives that tackle real issues.

In 2018, he began a podcast channel, as well as a new magazine with leading Vedic astrologers contributing articles. In 2019, he began to deepen his relationship with his readers and created a members’ site for patrons who support his work; to help fund these projects. Go to if you would like to become a patron and get access to more content on the website, including more in-depth monthly reports, online discussions and video presentations. This is a great way to keep up to date with the transits if you’ve had a reading previously or if you know a little about astrology and would like to learn more. Gary has plans to expand content, including more downloadable video presentations on various topics and an astrology art project he’s currently working on with visual artist Samir Rana.

His dream is to one day be part of the reinstatement of an Irish astrology society and pick up where Cyril Fagan and W. B. Yeats left off, inspiring a new generation of seekers in Ireland and around the world. If you are an astrologer based in Ireland, Gary would love to hear from you. Visit his Linkedin page if you would like to get involved or contact him directly via email at info[at]
