It all starts with a little Self-Love…

Being kinder, gentler, more empathic, accepting, aware, understanding, forgiving, loving, nourishing and nurturing to yourself has amazing benefits for both you and everyone around you. By showing yourself a little self-love, it creates a positive domino effect cascading out and all around you. It brings more balance and better coping mechanisms into your life. When you take a little time out to do nice things for yourself, it opens you up to an inner calm and appreciation of your true self. It could be as simple as going for a walk in nature, sitting down and savouring a cup of tea, or running a warm bath, but all these little moments (when noticed!) add up and help create a shift in your perspective from ego/fear based thoughts to love/gratitude based thoughts.

The ego is a strong influencer in our lives and given any leeway, it will gain traction and take over. The ego feeds off fear and allowing these fearful thoughts to consume you can create a negative impact on our lives. When the ego takes precedence in our lives, negative self-talk, judgment of ourselves and others, and substance abuse (whether food, alcohol, drugs etc.) are commonplace. Ultimately there is a complete lack of self-love present.

Warren Buffett, one of the most successful investors of all time, notes that ‘investing in yourself is the most important investment you’ll ever make in your life’.

Once we begin to shift our focus and shine a little light on self-love, we can slowly become aware of the ego’s presence and know when it is trying to take the lead, belittle us or push us to act or think in a fearful way. Once this crack happens, we can build on this awareness and really begin in invest in ourselves.

I am big on self-love and over the coming weeks I will focus on different ways you can start to nourish your mind, body and soul and feed yourself nuggets of moments which will expand your consciousness, gratitude and ultimately lead to an abundance of self-love that you can shine on everyone and every situation. Remember start small, appreciate and notice the moments that bring you joy and build on these.

It’s like on an airplane, you’re asked to tend to your own mask first before helping anyone else. When we take the time to love ourselves first, only then can we share this love with others.

Lots of love to you xx
